DESIGNER/DETAILER

The Designer/Detailer has a joint role between using CAD systems to prepare layouts, detail drawings, assembly drawings, and sketches while also assisting in the procurement of materials. With these combined roles, there is a third element of administrative duties to process the paperwork associated with purchasing. The Designer/Detailer plays a vital role for both shop and field installation employees.

Responsibilities & Duties:

  • Use computer assisted design/drafting equipment and software to develop designs.
  • Create and revise production drawings - detail and assembly drawings.
  • Make final drawings of proposals checking dimensions of parts, materials to be used, the relation of one part to another, and the relation of various parts to whole structures or projects.
  • Drafts detailed multi-view drawings of machines and products.
  • Sets up and maintain an organized file system for production drawings.
  • Communicate with QA, engineering, and production regarding new and revised prints.
  • Work closely with Project Management and Superintendent to ensure product quality and adhere to specifications
  • Assist in the procurement of materials for Mechanical and Fabrication jobs. This requires frequent communication with multiple vendors and other external entities.
  • Track and file all purchase requisitions, purchase orders, bill of ladings, material certs., and any other paperwork pertinent for tracking material procurement and documentation.
  • Assist and help manage the material handler in coordinating material being shipped to Bass.

Qualifications & Skills:

  • General knowledge of construction principles and practices.
  • Must have a strong understanding of CAD systems.
  • Basic knowledge in business-related software including email, calendars, and contacts.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

MECHANICAL PROJECT MANAGER

The Project Manager is expected plan, budget, oversee and document all aspects of the specific jobs assigned to them. The Project Manager II will work closely with upper management to make sure that the scope and direction of each project is on schedule. The Project Manager is to regularly report on the progress of their projects to management and the leadership team.

Responsibilities & Duties:

Leadership:

  • Regularly meet with your superintendent to get status updates on job progress, issue, or any other pertinent information.
  • Work closely with the mechanical crew(s) to keep them motivated. This will include communicating with them frequently, resolving conflicts, and making hard decisions for your employees.

Project Planning and Management:

  • Create crew requests for the field superintendent. Verify with the superintendent we have the correct tool/personnel for the job.
  • Create a feasible plan that achieves the goals and objectives of project while aligning with the organizations overall business strategy: maximize profits while minimizing costs. This consists of defining the scope, resources, time/financial commitment, and how to monitor project progress.
  • Manage the project start-up process and ensure that all deficiencies are identified and resolved.
  • Prepare necessary project schedules. That being the time schedule and schedule of values associated with the specific project.
  • Conduct pre-construction and project turnover meetings with appropriate field and office personnel to understand project bid documents, estimates, and contract documents.
  • Routinely visit his/her job sites to monitor progress, coordinate with project foreman, audit site safety, and review productivity.
  • Continually update customers on job progress, problems, and change order requests.

Financial Planning and Management:

  • Monitor the billing and collection process to ensure timely, accurate payments and collections.
  • Review project budgets, estimates, and actuals to determine if there is any issue that needs to be addressed.
  • Prepare and present forecasts as part of the monthly profit review profit review process to include, if necessary, corrective action to resolve problems and restore quality, safety, productivity, and/or profitability.
  • Communicate on an as-needed basis the financial health of projects to upper management and leadership team by means of reporting.

Qualifications & Skills:

  • General knowledge of construction/engineering principles and practices.
  • Experience leading successful project teams, including the development of employees, and maintaining relationships with external entities.
  • Knowledge of mechanical systems: air filtration, paint finishing, material handling, process piping, structural steel, etc.
  • Understand job cost reports as well as managing cost to complete throughout each project.
  • Thorough understanding of how projects are quoted in regards to costs for material, labor, and equipment.
  • Proficient working in MS Word, Excel and other business-related software, including email, calendars, and contacts.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

FABRICATION PROJECT MANAGER

The Project Manager is expected plan, budget, oversee and document all aspects of the specific jobs assigned to them. The Project Manager will work closely with upper management, sales, and shop/field crews to make sure that the scope and direction of each project is on schedule. Additionally, the Project Manager will assist in the transition between sales and daily operations. This includes estimating, material procurement, field support and work as part of team to ensure timely, high quality products.

Responsibilities & Duties:

Leadership:

  • Familiar with steel fit up, proper bolting technique, and crane/rigging skill.

ELECTRICAL FOREMAN

Bass is seeking an experienced industrial electrician foreman. The Electrical Foreman will be capable of running smaller projects and service calls, with responsibility to oversee additional electricians as needed. This is a highly skilled position which includes troubleshooting and general electrical maintenance of manufacturing equipment, while placing a strong emphasis on safe work practices. Candidate must have the ability to lead a team, and organize tasks and workflow for efficient, on-time project completion.

Responsibilities & Duties:

  • Experience with all wiring methods associated with construction electrical work
  • Properly interpret code requirements regarding wire size, conduit size, de-rating over current protection, etc.
  • Able to use pipe threading equipment.
  • Possess conduit bending and rigging skills
  • Relay Logic, PLCs, AC/DC Drives experience is a plus
  • Troubleshooting skills
  • Read and comprehend various schematics
  • Computer skills including Microsoft Office
  • Experience directing jobs and teams
  • Should be service and customer-service oriented.
  • Shows commitment to the job, demonstrated by appearance, tools and personal pride in work performed.
  • Soft Skills, including leadership and management abilities.

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Positively identify colors of wires.
  • Comprehends reading and drawing prints and schematics
  • Bend conduit by hand with hand benders.
  • Must use all power tools, saws, threaders, wire tuggers, hydraulic benders, and knockout punches.
  • Practices and comprehends safe work procedures per Company Policy.
  • Operate equipment, cable cutters, hammer drills, compression tools, jack hammers.
  • Understand and implement NFPA 70E “ELECTRICAL SAFETY IN THE WORK PLACE”
  • Read and interprets maps, instructional manuals, specifications, work site directions, blue prints and written instructions.
  • Operate and work from mechanical personal lifts (electric or gas powered).
  • Must be able to work in a safety-minded team environment

ELECTRICIAN

MECHANICAL FOREMAN

The Mechanical Foreman plays a key role in field operations. The Mechanical Foreman will assist in directing on-site workers as well as a liaison between the workers, supervisors, and GC’s to represent Bass in a positive manner. This is a field working position with the expectation that job site safety is of the utmost importance.

Responsibilities & Duties:

  • Assist with projects by performing tasks under the supervision of the Mechanical Supervisor while providing onsite leadership on projects by overseeing the installation of work and procurement of materials. This employee shall be responsible to keep all materials, tools, and equipment in an orderly fashion. They will also demonstrate safe work habits and proper care of tools and equipment.
  • Train and mentor millwrights
  • Communicate with customers in the course of project execution to sell additional services
  • Install, service or maintain industrial machinery, equipment, or systems
  • Install piping and fluid handling systems
  • Install, modify or service conveyor systems
  • Build, install or modify duct systems
  • Metal fabrication duties, including: cutting, grinding, etc.
  • Demolition of equipment, machinery, or structures
  • Basic civil projects, including: concrete repairs, boring, core-drilling, wall patching, etc.
  • Structural steel erection or modification, including: mezzanines, platforms, supports, etc.

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Supervisory or leadship experience
  • Comprehension of blueprints, schematics, and specifications
  • Crane signaling
  • Proficient with common welding processes (GTAW, GMAW, SMAW) – hold or have held welding certifications
  • Cutting tools and techniques, including: oxy-acetylene torch, plasma, jet-arc, etc.
  • Experienced in machine/equipment service and repair (i.e. bearings, drives, shafts, etc.)
  • Proficient in equipment alignment and leveling techniques
  • Equipment operation, including: scissors and boom lifts; all-terrain, shooting boom, and industrial forklifts
  • Ability to work at heights from ladders or work platforms
  • Pipe bending, fitting, threading, and welding
  • Understanding of different materials (S.S., C.S., Al, etc.)
  • Comprehends and practices safe working practices according to Company policy and customer requirements

MILLWRIGHT

The Millwright will be capable of independently performing project tasks with minimal oversight or direction. This is a highly skilled position performing troubleshooting and general mechanical maintenance and installation of manufacturing equipment while placing a strong emphasis on safe work practices. The ability to work safely on and around heavy industrial equipment in sometimes hazardous environments is required.

Responsibilities & Duties

Working in an industrial environment under the supervision of a Foreman or Supervisor. Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Install, service or maintain industrial machinery, equipment, or systems
  • Install piping and fluid handling systems
  • Install, modify or service conveyor systems
  • Build, install or modify duct systems
  • Metal fabrication duties, including: cutting, grinding, etc.
  • Demolition of equipment, machinery, or structures
  • Basic civil projects, including: concrete repairs, boring, core-drilling, wall patching, etc.

  • Available for overtime and emergency call-ins
  • Service and customer-service oriented

  • Overnight travel (up to 20% Annually)

  • Comprehension of blueprints, schematics, and specifications

STEEL FOREMAN

The Steel Foreman plays a key role in field operations. The Steel Foreman will assist in directing on-site workers as well as a liaison between the workers, supervisors, and GC’s to represent Bass in a positive manner. This is a field working position with the expectation that job site safety is at the utmost importance. The Steel Foreman will report directly to the Mechanical Superintendent or Steel Supervisor.

Responsibilities & Duties:

Field Functions:

  • Read specifications or blueprints to determine the locations, quantities, or sizes of materials required.
  • Connect columns, beams, and girders with bolts, following blueprints and instructions from supervisors.
  • Bolt aligned steel members in position for permanent riveting, bolting, or welding into place.
  • Fasten steel members to hoist cables, using chains, cables, or rope.
  • Hoist steel beams, girders, or columns into place, using cranes or signaling hoisting equipment operators to lift and position steel members.
  • Verify vertical and horizontal alignment of steel members, using plumb bobs, laser equipment, transits, or levels.
  • Cut, bend, or weld steel pieces, using metal shears, torches, or welding equipment.
  • Force steel members into final positions, using turnbuckles, crowbars, jacks, or hand tools.
  • Pull, push, or pry steel members into approximate positions for bolting into place.
  • Unload and position prefabricated steel units for hoisting as needed.
  • Drive drift pins through rivet holes to align rivet holes in steel members with corresponding holes in previously placed members.
  • Assemble hoisting equipment or rigging, such as cables, pulleys, or hooks, to move heavy equipment or materials.
  • Fabricate metal parts, such as steel frames, columns, beams, or girders, according to blueprints or instructions from supervisors.
  • Dismantle structures or equipment.
  • Ride on girders or other steel members to position them or use rope to guide them into position.
  • Hold rivets while riveters use air hammers to form heads on rivets.
  • Insert sealing strips, wiring, insulating material, ladders, flanges, gauges, or valves, depending on types of structures being assembled.

Supervisory Functions:

  • Assure quality craftsmanship on every job
  • Run a jobsite efficiently and safely making sure all men/women on site understand proper safety protocol
  • Responsible for recording the men/women’s working hours on the Bass provided timesheet
  • Keep constant communication with the Steel Supervisor, making him aware of items or issues that may arise throughout the project
  • Have responsibility for maintaining company records applicable to projects. Items include time tickets, daily reports, load paper, and any other related to the project.
  • Assist and organize the daily activities of crew members, subcontractors or equipment.

Qualifications & Skills:

  • General knowledge of construction principles and practices.
  • Must be able to work at heights efficiently on either the steel directly or from a lift.
  • Use proper rigging techniques to lift steel efficiently and safely.
  • Use proper cane signals to safely maneuver steel on site.
  • Be certified to run equipment such as personal lifts and all terrain fork lifts.
  • Be able to adapt to continuing changes in schedules and job site conditions.
  • Take direction and be able to complete tasks with minimal supervision.
  • Able to use hand and power tools effectively and safely.
  • Proficient in SMAW (stick) welding in 3G and 4G.
  • Must be able to effectively communicate either verbal or written.
  • Have the ability to lead a crew of men and women on jobs from start to finish.
  • Have flexibility with regards to changes in schedules or projects.
  • Be innovative when working on projects and always be prepared to think of new ways to become more efficient.
  • Well organized and ability to lead by example.

FITTER/WELDER

Fitter/Welders are responsible for laying out, fitting, and welding custom fabrication, miscellaneous metals, and structural steel to build different metal structures and units. Fitter/Welders will read blueprints, layout material, fit, weld, and carry out tasks as directed by the Superintendent or Fabrication/Welding Supervisor.

Speciality stainless and TIG welding are the core of this position

Responsibilities & Duties:

  • Analyze engineering drawings, blueprints, specifications, sketches, work orders, and material safety data sheets to plan layout, assembly, and welding operations
  • Layout, position, align, and secure parts and assemblies prior to assembly, using straightedges, combination squares, calipers, and rulers
  • Operate manual or semi-automatic welding equipment to fuse metal segments, using processes such as gas tungsten arc, gas metal arc, flux-cored arc, plasma arc, shielded metal arc, resistance welding, and submerged arc welding
  • Weld components in flat, vertical, or overhead positions
  • Set up and operate hand and power tools common to the welding trade, such as shielded metal arc and gas metal arc welding equipment
  • Determine required equipment and welding methods, applying knowledge of metallurgy, geometry, and welding techniques.
  • Operate safety equipment and use safe work habits

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Take direction and be able to complete tasks with minimal supervision
  • Able to use hand and power tools effectively and safely
  • Use cranes to move metal pieces and structures
  • Possess good troubleshooting and problem -solving skills
  • Possess good interpersonal skills in communication, listening, ability to work as part of a team, and good safety practices
  • Ability to read specifications, shop drawings, schematics, and blueprints
